Our Story
When Happy Planet International Travel was founded in Zhangjiajie in 2019, the question we kept asking ourselves was straightforward: Why do so many international visitors leave Hunan feeling like they only scratched the surface?
The answer wasn't complicated. Most travel products were designed around logistics — how to move the most people through the most landmarks in the least time. Efficient, yes. Memorable, rarely. We believed there was a better way.
Zhangjiajie is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The geology here is unlike anything else on earth — 380-million-year-old quartz sandstone pillars rising out of the mist, home to ecosystems found nowhere else. The surrounding Xiangxi region holds living cultures — Tujia and Miao traditions that have survived for centuries, still practiced by real communities in real villages.
This is not backdrop scenery. This is a destination that deserves to be understood, not just photographed. So we built a company around that conviction. Small groups. Expert local guides.
